Celebration and Community Week End

The first stage of our Vision Project is nearly completed.  It has been partly funded by Veolia Environmental Trust and we are inviting the local community to come in and see what we have done - as well as providing  free coffees, tea  and biscuits, with other food as reasonable prices.  There will be other things to see and do and buy!  On Saturday February 7th this is open from 10.00 am to 2.00 pm and will be opened by Shafique Shah, the Lord Mayor of Birmingham, between 11.00 - 11,30.  There will be a celebratory service on Sunday February 8th at 10.30am. which will include a dedication of our wonderful new fused glass window.

VISION PROJECT STARTS WORK !

At last we have a start date for building work to begin - August 26th.  We have been fortunate in raising a large part of our total money needed and can amalgamate some of the phases.  So in three months there will be a transformation to the building.  The picture shown is what we are aiming for, but the front trees will be smaller, and signage on the side wall will be larger and bolder.  There is already someone sitting on the proposed community seat near the bus stop!!

We are still fund-raising to reach the remaining £42,000 needed to complete the project.

OUR VISION PROJECT

We have reached £200,000 in funding, which is a wonderful result - but there is still £45,000 to go.  However we can now start a major part of the work and are just waiting for a start date!

Our next event is an Afternoon Tea with a WW1 theme.  Come and find out what is happening.  We would need your name in advance for catering numbers and  pay £5 on the day.

An extra to the calendar is a concert on September 6th by the CANOLDIR MEN'S CHOIR .  This takes place at Stockland Green Methodist Church at 7.00pm - tickets are £10.00.   The church is generously donating 50% of their proceeds to out project.  This is an excellent choir and it will be a good evening, with refreshments included.

On September 13th we are running an extended coffee morning at Erdington from 10 - 1 with plenty to eat, see and buy !

We now have brochures available for our Festival of Talents event.  They cost £1 each and contain all the details of what is going on over the two days.

Each one is numbered, and on the Sunday there will be a draw for 'Tea for 2' at Newhall Hotel.

Contact Hilary for a copy, or ask any member of the church.
